چکیده
Abstract Background Identifying populations with poor muscle recovery after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is important for postoperative physical therapy. Preoperative strength a strong factor that determines strength. However, this effect may depend on other factors. Thus, predictive models interaction terms are accurately predicting This study aimed to develop model lower 12 months THA which incorporates terms. Methods Subjects were female patients osteoarthritis who underwent unilateral THA. Patients locomotor disorders, neurological or complications excluded. Hip abductor and knee extensor measured, generalized linear approach preoperative strength, age, body weight, height, disease duration, activity, leg extension as explanatory variables was used identify factors determine Models between also examined. Results A of 82 analyzed. duration extracted significantly independently The term age identified Regression coefficients significant when +1 SD, but not -1 SD. Conclusions demonstrated determined by the being dependent age. When using it consider

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Assessment of Hip Abductor after Total Hip Arthroplasty Using a Direct Lateral Approach
Background: Surgical techniques and rehabilitations after total hip arthroplasty (THA) play a significant role in theimprovement of pain and limping. This study aimed to assess hip abductor muscle’s diameter and its strength after 6months postoperative THA performed by Hardinge approach. Methods: After obtaining the patients’ demographic characteristics, the preoperative values...
متن کاملMuscular strength after total hip arthroplasty
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Minimizing the decrease in muscular strength after total hip arthroplasty (THA) might allow patients to recover faster. We evaluated muscular strength in patients who were operated on using 3 surgical approaches. PATIENTS AND METHODs: In a prospective cohort study, 60 patients scheduled for primary THA were allocated to the direct lateral, posterior, or anterior approach....
متن کاملEffect of femoral offset on range of motion and abductor muscle strength after total hip arthroplasty.
At a minimum of one year after operation, we studied 64 patients with 86 total hip arthroplasties (THA) by standard anteroposterior hip and pelvic radiographs and measurement of range of motion and of isometric abduction strength. The femoral offset correlated positively with the range of abduction (p = 0.046). Abduction strength correlated positively with both femoral offset (p = 0.0001) and t...
متن کاملEffects of perioperative factors and hip geometry on hip abductor muscle strength during the first 6 months after anterolateral total hip arthroplasty
[Purpose] The importance and effect of hip joint geometry on hip abductor muscle strength are well known. In addition, other perioperative factors are also known to affect hip abductor muscle strength. This study examined the relative importance of factors affecting hip abductor muscle strength after total hip arthroplasty. [Subjects and Methods] The subjects were 97 females with osteoarthritis...
متن کاملAssociations among pain catastrophizing, muscle strength, and physical performance after total knee and hip arthroplasty
AIM To investigate whether reductions in pain catastrophizing associated with physical performance in the early period after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) or total hip arthroplasty (THA). METHODS The study group of 46 participants underwent TKA or THA. The participants were evaluated within 7 d before the operation and at 14 d afterwards. Physical performance was measured by the Timed Up and ...
